The Old Ranger Finds Something New at Camp El-O-Win
July 15, 2011
The Old Ranger had been away from camp for several days and was just walking through camp for old times' sake.  While rambling about she admired the lovely blue skies, green trees and yellow butterweed.  Then she began to notice some changes at camp.

The trading post had a new name. Tajar's Trading Post with a critter that looks something like the Grinch.  The Old Ranger doesn't know much about a Tajar, but supposed there were long-time campers who must know.  Also a carpenter must have been by because the trading post has some new supports for its railing.  Good, don't want to lose any shopping campers.

Over the winter, snow had damaged the fence around the propane tank at the camper shower house.  Someone just finished building a new fence, too.

Down at the campfire circle, the stage had been repaired.  It was raised up and the deck replaced.  It looks just dandy now.

Someone had been doing a lot of work here at camp!

Out at Arapaho, the trail to the cave had been reflagged and cleaned.  What fun to explore the old cave with its newly refurbished path.

It turns out that students from West Hills College Upward Bound and some Friends of Camp El-O-Win had been busy the past two weeks making all these improvements.  They are as welcome as the elves of the old folktale about the brownies who come out to help and make things better while you are asleep.
