Years of Camp El-O-Win |
|
THE FRIENDS OF
CAMP EL-O-WIN exists solely to continue the
tradition of offering girls and young
women unique camping experiences and
memories that continue to sustain and
inspire them throughout their
lives.
For nearly five decades, girls and
adults have made their own memories in
a magical place in the Sierras called
Camp El-O-Win. Since 1959, girls
and their adult counselors learned new
skills and team work. They
understood it was not the outcome but
the process that counted. They
became part of an extraordinary
connection with the natural
environment, emerging as partners in
preserving the land, and most
important of all, their self reliance
and self esteem flourished.
For several years, we have served more
than 600 campers each summer.
A greater number of campers
will be able to attend camp each
summer when the program graduates from
an eleven weekend-only schedule using
half of the camp to a 6-week resident
camp, using the entire 58 acre site.
What do we need to make that
connection with more girls?
We need to build
a footbridge across Dinkey Creek
which connects the north and south
sides of the camp. For plans,
permits, environmental reports,
materials and labor, we are projecting
the cost to be just over $600,000.
Last year, YOUR
DONATION helped us KEEP THE GATE
OPEN at Camp
El-O-Win
!
In six months, we raised
$800,000!
How did we do it?
I assure you, we did it because
people like you took a stand for
girls.
Some of you attended El-O-Win
as campers or staff; you realize what
a quality camp experience can do for a
girl’s self confidence and
leadership potential.
Some of you had no link to the
camp, but you were supporting the
dream of those who did.
We
need your help again!
You can help us to
MAKE THE CONNECTION… a
connection to the other side of Dinkey
Creek, to the girls, to the future.
By sending a gift of $25, $35,
$50 or whatever you wish, you will
help us raise
the needed $604,000 to build the bridge.
Donations
can be made by cash, check or credit
card through our Pay Pal account on
our website.
You can help us spread the word
to the community, your friends, family
and business associates.
Please let them know about our
great programs for girls 6 – 18
years old and our bridge building
capital campaign.
If you have any questions,
please email me at info@campelowin.org.
We
are so very grateful for your support!
Camp El-O-Win exists to serve
girls, but the camp belongs to all who
have a part in sustaining her site and
her spirit.

|
| Our goal is to
offer weekend programs until the bridge is
built and then resume operating resident camp
programs in the summer of 2010.
Exceptional outdoor programs on an
extraordinary site will be offered to girls
from the Central Valley, community groups and families. The
philosophy on which
the program is designed reflects our
unwavering commitment to safety, fun and
providing girls with a unique adventure. |

Mission
Statement:
The
mission of The Friends of Camp El-O-Win is to preserve
El-O-Win and its tradition as a safe place where
campers discover their abilities, values and talents
in a beautiful mountain setting.

The Friends of Camp El-O-Win must raise $2
million to accomplish our goals. Within
six months, we raised $800,000
which was the purchase price for the camp. The Friends of Camp El-O-Win would not be where
we are today without good friends and generous
supporters like you. We have been able to
save Camp
El-O-Win for all girls in Fresno, Madera, Kings,
Tulare and Kern Counties.
We hope you will continue to support us as we move
through Phase 2 of rebuilding the bridge across Dinkey
Creek. |
